How to brush your wolf

It took some trial and error to learn how to give sweet Tala a proper brushing. She hated the rake and the furminater didn't do a very good job. I got a cheap metal brush, shown in pic, from that big cheap box store. It seems to work best. I discovered she liked to be brushed backwards. A great discovery! She would lay for me longer but still nipped at me a bit, with no contact, when I pulled a hair or hit a soft spot. One day I distracted her with a bone. She chewed away while I brushed for a full half hour. Now that we've established a routine, acceptable to both woman and wolf, she even turns over and belly ups for me. And doesn't she look beautiful all brushed out and recently bathed?

Bad Mommy - No Cookie

I've neglected the blog but I haven't been neglecting my girls. All is well. They are happy, healthy, and having a lot of fun. In the past few months we have been swimming, had sleepovers, and run wild and free. We have tried numerous new treats like antlers and sugarcane, and enjoyed many of the old favorites like frosty paws and whole milk plain yogurt. We've walked with our main pack, we've met lots of new furry faces, and played with children.

The Neighborhood

Bored with sqeakies and sitting at home all morning, the girls and I headed into our wonderfully dog friendly neighborhood. We love our neighborhood! Almost every house has a dog, we have a big church that always treat us well, a mailman with biscuits, and even a cat house. Best of all we have two other huskies, and a black lab that goes swimming with us and plays ball. First pic is Tala and Sable being bored. Second pic is Tala and Cubby with the ball.

Tala's Official Birthday

Tala just celebrated her second birthday. A second birthday in a dogs life is a big one. My little puppy is gone. Today she is a big girl. She has turned out well. I can now let her off the leash without the fear of her running away. She no longer eats strange things like hand cream, tables and curtains. I love her to death but I do miss my high maintenance puppy. It seems we celebrate Tala coming into our lives everyday but we did try to make this one extra special with Frosty Paws ice cream, a large steak bone, and a couple new toys. Sable made out well too.
